However, no story has ever affected me, personally or professionally, quite like the story of my friend, Sue Manber.
And before I take you deeper into her journey, I want to share this:

The Day I Met Sue
Sue and I met back in 2021. I remember the afternoon vividly. It was right before Thanksgiving (4 years ago today, to be precise) and I was in full pre-holiday spa mode, treating client after client, when in walked this bundle of energy from a mile away. She was vivacious, full of spark, and also incredibly red and swollen.
In esthetics school, we learn about couperose skin and rosacea flare ups. But only in oncology training did I learn about something far rarer — radiation recall.
When we sat down with her intake form, she told me the whole story.
A rare cancer. Multiple surgeries for removal and reconstruction. Dozens of rounds of long-term prednisone.
No lymph nodes left on the left side of her neck. Half of her nostril removed to clear all cancer from her upper body.
This woman had been THROUGH it.
So when I asked nonchalantly, “And how long have you had radiation recall?” she looked at me like I had two heads. It was rare to meet someone outside an oncology center who had ever even heard the term — let alone someone who could help. I couldn’t diagnose, of course, but I smiled and said, “Don’t worry, I have the perfect thing for it.”
In Comes CBD
At the time, I carried “Enchanted Apothekerry,” my first product line here in New York. It wasn’t as potent as Skinchanted CBD is today, but it was the best I had. And Sue needed the big guns. In her cancer journey, they had excised all the lymph nodes in her left side of her neck and even some muscle, leaving her skin fragile and her mobility limited — she could only turn her head about 70 degrees to the right.
